While at the Government Palace, I also met Maria Cristina, a congresswoman in Guayaquil. She’s only 27 years old, yet is already on her third term in congress. She has Spinal Muscle Atrophy, a disease which allows her to move all of her limbs, yet prevents them from having the strength of an average person’s arms and legs. She is a huge inspiration to Ecuadorians everywhere, and uses her position in the government to help others with disabilities. She is an incredible example of how God can give you the strength not just to live, but to thrive, regardless of your circumstances. “One day at a time.
